Internal medicine is defined as the art of preventing or curing disease. We truly believe that Internal Medicine starts with a thorough history and a full physical examination. From the history and a full physical examination a lot can be ascertained. The art comes in when the doctors assimilate their historical information and comprehensive physical examination to come up with a differential diagnosis. Once the differential is established we use our experience to lead us through a logical diagnostic pathway to determining exactly what the animal's ailment is.
